Make money Online with Fusion Branding

8 09 2009

Most entrepreneurs would know the importance of developing a brand for the products or services they offer. Most would say that branding helps consumers to uniquely identify their products and services. Furthermore, after establishing the brand name, the value or worth of the “brand name” can be “pumped up” without having fears that the investments would be dissolved by competitors. At least these seem to be the main reasons for branding. However, most netrepreuners are still ignorant of the effective approaches of developing a brand on the World Wide Web.

Developing your brand with great content
Content marketing has evolved much for the advertiser. Now online, advertisers have learnt that their adverts have to blend into the publishers’ website as great content. Only by providing content would the website visitors be drawn to the adverts rather than to just skip them. We now know that website visitors seek original, fresh and great content. It is information that they seek and not flashy graphics or logos. It is great content that makes your site “sticky”, thus helping your visitors to return well so often. So how do we provide the fresh content? Well, there are many ways. First and foremost, be generous in inserting concise details and organized information on the products and services you offer. Make sure that the website is structured in a very organized fashion. Do not make the mistake of providing irrelevant information. Providing the latest news or information on the market trends regarding your products will be useful. Inclusion of a manual or guide to using your products is most encouraged. Detailed comparisons with your competitors will be appreciated by your visitors. Insert articles and forum posts by your existing customers. Their comments and suggestions will definitely be welcomed by your site visitors and prospects. As there can be many other ways of providing great content, remember to keep it fresh by updating your site content regularly and with original information.

Customer relationship is King
Another important aspect of building your website brand name is the relationship development with your customers and website visitors. On the World Wide Web, this vital factor has been much emphasized by gurus yet overlooked by webmasters and netrepreuners. Before website visitors decide to make a purchase, they would like to have the experience that they are being treated with extra care and not just like another client. They would like to know unconsciously what kind of caring and considerate person you are. They may not get a clear picture of what kind of personality you have the first time they visit your site, but will form a better image of you after returning many times or after receiving many of your follow-up emails. Most visitors will only be converted to customers after being convinced that your support team or you yourself are motivated by support care for your clients. It has also been proven that good customer relationship is even more effective when extended to webmasters who are leaders. Website visitors will be easily converted to your supporters when you can prove to be their reliable leader in their quest to their goals. As their leader, your desired personal character is to personally know your supporters, care for them, attend to their personal needs with haste and optimistic if not motivational.
A few simple steps can be carried out to enhance good customer care: promote communication both ways and attend to your visitors’ needs and questions quickly; be polite and considerate when communicating with visitors and customers alike. Simple communication mediums or tools can be set up to aid the communication process. Leave your contact email address so that the website visitors can contact you. If you are afraid that your email address will be misused, then you may use ticketing systems where the visitors fill to submit ticket forms. You may also consider using detailed “Frequently Asked Question” sections to help you. Forums also prove to be a useful communication tool. “Live-support” and chat rooms are helpful as visitors can get their doubts cleared and questions answered on the spot.

Building a community
Most people would like to be part of a team. The sense of belonging especially to a more elite group has been identified as an important driving characteristic of consumer behavior. Being part of a community, most people feel that they are able to get non-biased communication, opinions and even help from other members of the related community. Many people also have the concept that successfully developed communities usually enjoy higher standards of privileges as compared to individuals, single visitors or buyers to the website. This is usually true as Webmasters tend to “take care” of their nurtured community groups with gifts, offers and privileges. After all, it’s convenient for the webmaster to contact the entire group than many individuals. Therefore members of a group will be contacted or updated frequently with new information and privileges. It is wise if you are able to build some sort of community related to your web site. These community groups can be maintained using tools such as emailing systems and auto-responders. Forum softwares are also very useful to maintaining constant communication with the entire community. Chatrooms are great when members need to talk to each other or with you.

Your ultimate pot of gold
Are there really “Pots of Gold” to be realized in business including that of the Internet? Well, to better illustrate what these “Pots of Gold” are, let’s look at a simple real life example. The producers of the Blockbuster movie “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” released this first movie in 2001. It was a hit and made millions , despite the fact that many had never even read the book. After reaping in the mega profits, did the producers stop there? The answer is no; they went ahead with the filming of other Harry Potter movies. They knew that the consequent movies will be almost guaranteed instant mega Blockbusters. This is simply because the same people who enjoyed the first Harry Potter movie will most likely return to watch the other Harry Potter movies.
Let’s take another practical example. Today, millions have been served and are still being served in the chain outlets of McDonalds worldwide. It is not by coincidence that McDonalds also sell children toys with their value meals. It is not surprising that the volume of toys sold by McDonalds worldwide now surpasses any toy retailer company. In fact, McDonalds is now ranked number 1 as the world’s largest toy distributor, above Toys “R” Us and Walmart. (example source : www.fool.com/News/mft/2004/mft04090301.htm ) . You may ask how it became so. Well, there is no secret. The McDonalds corporation has built its enormous network of chain stores worldwide which are repeatedly patronized by their respective customers. Every time McDonalds introduce new products, they will be instantly introduced to a ready market of potential buyers!
From these examples, we now understand that the direction for any growing business is to build our network of dedicated clients. This clientele may have been your past customers but you have to stay in good relations with them as they have a good chance to purchase your products and services in future. As long as they have enjoyed and appreciated your past products, services, contacts, communications and customer relations, they will definitely consider the next quality relevant products and services that you introduce to them. Communicating with your past internet customers will be easy as you already have their emails and contacts from their last purchase.

To summarize this important aspect of internet marketing, let’s layout the plan of actions that builds your “Pot of Gold”.
a. Ensure that your first and consequent products and services are of the highest grades
b. As you make the sales, remember to keep your customers’ emails addresses and contact profiles.
c. Remember to keep in contact with your customers so that you preserve and enhance the good relations with them. Use emailing softwares and tools to send your updates, newsletters and emails.
d. As you update your subscribers on your future plans, remember to highlight your brand name or company name so they can associate their past pleasant experience with you to your brand name and company.
e. When you introduce the new products and services to your past clients, remember to highlight your brand and company name. They will cognitively associate their past good experience to their current needs for the new product or service.
f. Never, ever introduce non-relevant products and services to your clients. This will spoil their image of you as a professional in the scope of field you are in. Imagine an example where you manage a site that deals with recipes. As your site grows, you accumulate a list of loyal subscribers to your regular updates and newsletters. It will be ridiculous if you were to suddenly introduce sports shoes to your subscribers!

Broadband – A Cheap Alternative

8 09 2009

Broadband, another name for high speed internet connection, is capable of transmitting data at a much faster rate than a standard dialup modem connection. It allows you to keep your phone lines free allowing you to make and receive calls while using the Internet. It works on the top of your phone line such as ADSL providing ten times faster data transfer than a dial-up connection. You can now download music, graphics and video quickly in no time at all. So if you are a dial-up user, looking for a faster connection, go for a broadband Internet connection.

Earlier with dial-up connections, people had no options but to bear with low speeds, breaking connections, time consuming downloads, and engaged phone lines, etc. But with the coming of broadband, there is a solution to all these problems. Although broadband is costlier than dial-ups, people are opting for it because they have realised the importance of broadband. After the broadband prices came down, its use in homes quickly surpassed dialups. The only change is the change in frequency and duration. Telephone calls can now be made on the Internet and cheap webcams can be used for video chatting. People can now send a quick email, read a quick news article, instantantly access pages on the Net, video on the Net, and even download a lot faster. They don’t have to wait anymore for several minutes to log on to a dial-up account. The wide bandwidth technology is transforming cable TV, internet and telephone connections round the globe. The number of internet service providers are also increasing with broadband making its way to more and more homes. With your broadband connection, you can reduce your expenses and enjoy added features that your conventional phone company could not provide to you at any price. Broadband was initially desired for surfing and downloading speed but today an ever increasing number of people are turning to VOIP( voice over internet protocol). VOIP is a great service and it cuts down the phone bills to nothing.

Search Engine Optimization – Building a New Online Bookstore

28 07 2009

Building A New Online Bookstore – A Case Study In Search Engine Optimization

By Patrick Dent, Owner of New Online Bookstore, Author of Execution of Justice

If you already have a website, and are struggling to draw the traffic you need, you may have to go back to your URL and reconstruct your site to sing out to search engines using strategies that attract the attention of the biggest search engines. The basic strategy has three steps: first, select the best 3-4 keywords or phrases for your products, second, build those keywords into your URL, and third, to tweak your site to rank high for those 3-4 keywords.

Selecting Keywords To truly pick the best keywords, you need to understand the KEI (keyword efficiency index). But, I’m going to show you how to modify the formula for the KEI to separate your true competitors from those who merely have the same keyword indexed on their site. The KEI formula is simple. You take the number of worldwide searches for a keyword per day and call that ‘P’ for popularity. Then, you take the number of websites containing that word or phrase in their ‘keywords’ tag, and call it ‘C’ for competition. When you perform a Google search, it will say ‘displaying top 10 results of 540,000,000′. That huge number is ‘C’, and ‘P’ can be obtained from the free version of Web CEO. Now, Web CEO is going to calculate the standard KEI (which should be in the 100’s to be good) and give you a number like 0.0009 for just about any keyword you can dream up. If there are new keywords under the Sun, I haven’t located any. Here’s where you tweak the formula to your advantage. The standard KEI is (P^2)/(C). Since you plan to build your keywords into your URL, which is heavily weighted by all major search engines, you want to modify ‘C’. Type your keyword search phrase into Google as follows:

allinurl: “keyword phrase”

and ‘C’ drops from hundreds of millions to maybe tens of thousands or fewer. These are your true competitors. You beat the millions of others by default because your keywords are few, focused, and contained in your URL. After typing in the above, simply take the number of competing websites Google lists, and plug that into your KEI equation, and the KEI will be in harmony with your strategy of building keywords from the URL level down to the Title, Description, Keywords, Body Text and Alt Tag levels.

The owner of Quincy’s Steakhouse said he’d learned all his mistakes building Quincy’s and he wanted a fresh start. So, he sold Quincy’s and opened Ryan’s Steakhouse, avoiding all the pitfalls of his first run. He soon trampled Quincy’s. Wise man. This is the same process I went through.

It took me a year to learn the pitfalls of opening a new commercial website. The first decision I made was the name of my URL, before I had any notion of what keywords I would be competing for. So, I named my site after my business – a sound strategy if you have name recognition like Amazon – but not for a newcomer to a very large pond, filled with 540 million competitors. I also tried to emulate the business model of the major online bookstores by being everything to everyone. Big mistake #2. Being a small, upstart business, I needed to focus in on a niche, not the entire planet.

Now, look at the URL and keywords for my new company, New Online Bookstore.

http://www.new-online-bookstore.com

Note that the URL contains ‘online bookstore’, ‘bookstore’, ‘book’, ‘books’, ‘new’ applied to any of the before, etc. This is because I wrote the copy for my entire site in natural language, with a few keywords in mind, then checked the keyword density with any number of free online tools. That told me what words I naturally used most often and prominently when describing my site. I then used Web CEO and the Overture Keyword Suggestion Tool, both free, to tweak my keywords to make them focused on my niche – new books from new authors. I figured I could take a small sliver of what Amazon and the other Big Boys do and focus with such single-minded intensity on that niche that I could beat them for a reasonable number of searches. This means sticking to the restriction of 3-4 keywords or phrases, each of which should: be included in your ‘H1′ tag, constitute a minimum of 2% of visible text (mine are in the 15% range), and be included in the Title, Description, Keywords and ALT tags.

You’ll never completely satisfy Web CEO, but come as close as you can. When your site is as good as you can get it, have Web CEO automatically submit it to the major search engines every 30 days to keep your listing fresh. Now, you’re set up to attract first time visitors.

Email Marketing

The problem is that less than 30% of first time visitors actually make a purchase. You need to collect their email addresses (www.worldminer.com) and follow up with them. For instance, my site offers a free monthly Short Story Ezine, which attracts both readers and writers without the need for spamming. Ezines are best published through an autoresponder, and your website should have ample opportunities for visitors to sign up for a free subscription. For those visitors who don’t sign up on my site, I follow up with a non-commercial email offering them a no charge subscription to my ezine. This is not considered ’spam’. Spam is defined as “unsolicited, bulk, commercial email”. There are many autoresponders to choose from, but none will tolerate more than a few spam complaints before dropping you. Stay away from FFA leads and services that promise 10 MILLION FREE EMAILS. These mailings are random and meaningless. Sending out 10 MILLION FREE EMAILS to Chinese antiquities dealers is a waste of your time if you’re selling new books.

Using my unobtrusive method, I picked up 700 subscribers the first month, and am now into the thousands, with my next 13 ezine issues already loaded into my autoresponder.

It’s that simple. Pick your keywords. Build them into the business name and URL. Then, do the detail work, parceling your keywords evenly across the alt tags for all images and text links. If you don’t know HTML, it’s not a big deal. You can easily find tutorials to show you exactly how to use these tags, and no other knowledge is needed.

Then, figure out some kind of newsletter that would interest your customers and include subscription forms on each page, with a clearly stated privacy statement. Offer a free subscription to your newsletter in as many avenues as possible, such as in the footer of this article.

The Internet And Finding People

28 07 2009

Remember that hilarious guy you met at the casino on your last cruise? What about that best friend you had from the high school you transferred from your sophomore year? What about that long lost crush; how is she? Everyone needs to find someone at sometime in their life, and sometimes that can be difficult. Short of hiring a private detective, there are few options available. With the proliferation of the Internet, there is another place to turn.

An easy place to begin is the Internet white pages. Think of these sites as a gigantic phonebook with listings for people all over the country and even the world. The downfall of these types of sites is that it is usually difficult to locate the exact person you are trying to find, and it may be awkward and time consuming calling up 150 people named “Michael Brown.” There are, however, other places to turn.

Many Internet sites now claim to be experts on finding personal information. Any of these sites can be found by loading Google in your browser and searching for “find people.” Of course, these sites charge a fee, from small to large, to present you with all the information you could ask for. These sites offer you address, phone number, cell phone number, email address, job record, credit reports, criminal records, and much more. Some sites even claim that this is a great way to learn about prospective dating partners! It may be smart to first try the service with your own name to see exactly how it works and what information is available.

If you wish to learn more about relative and your family’s ancestors, there are sites that can help you do this as well. They will help you retrace your family roots right up until you can find your actual relatives that immigrated to the United States (the website is actually created by Ellis Island).

Overall, these sites are great for finding someone you want to contact. However, they do seem like they interfere with people’s privacy. Do you really want to know that that hilarious guy in the casino has gone bankrupt 3 times since the cruise? Come on!

SEO Dos And Don’ts

8 06 2009

You don’t have to be a SEO expert to make a fortune on the web. Search engine optimization is not complicated at all. It may be exhausting and annoying. You may get frustrated. But it is so easy if you know the basic rules. Read the following SEO Dos and Don’ts and start making money. SEO Dos :

1. Stay natural – Search engines like natural behavior. Remember it whenever you get a tempting proposal to pay for software that will boost your search engine optimization and get you to the top search engine ranks.

2. Links, Links, Links – The online world equivalent to: “Location, location, location”. Links are the foundation stones of your SEO strategy. The quantity and quality of the links pointing to your site are the main criteria that affect your search engine ranking. Never stop creating new links to your site using techniques like links exchanging, articles submitting, affiliate marketing, link buying etc.

3. Page and site optimization – Remember, Search Engines like what human like. Optimize your site according to valuable keywords, you have found on wordcount.com or overture. Make the navigation on your site easy and clear.

4. Automate and delegate – Do not work on your own – use software to automate processes and outsource some of the search engine optimization to others.

SEO Don’ts:

1. Do not shoot and forget – Search engine optimization is an ongoing task. You will not see results in a day or in a month. Do not work on one site too much too fast. In other words, add links and pages to your site gradually.

2. Do not optimize only for the best search engine – Google is not the only search engine and all search engine change their ranking algorithms every once in a while. Do your best to get your site in a high place in at least three of the best search engines.

Now that you have read the SEO Dos and Don’ts, all there is to do is work on your sites’ search engine optimization. It may take time but it sure worth it – You can have fun and lots of money. Good luck.

Essential Skills You MUST Acquire Before Diving Headfirst into Online Event Promotions

5 06 2009

Suppose someone told you that it was your job to host an online
event… and you were starting tomorrow. Think you’d feel
comfortable just taking the plunge? If you’ve never “done” mass
web promotion, then you’re justified in feeling skittish about
saying yes to such a project. Even so: some of the best
professional relationships have come of group projects like
online career fairs, info-go-rounds, “invented holidays,” and
group creations and celebrations. Don’t miss your chance to be
noticed in your niche. :)

What might be a good online promotion to rally team spirit with
your colleagues and snag some new buying prospects? An Online
Marketers’ Virtual Breakfast… a pet network “dog show” with
prizes for the winners… a Family Day on your forum…
basically anything that’s worth celebrating in real-life is
worth creating a fun-filled website that you can drive traffic
to. Be creative! That was why you became an entrepreneur, right?
To tap that marketing brain of yours.

(And while I’m talking about it, have I mentioned that my Ryze
Network colleagues and I are getting ready to launch the First
Annual Web Content Awareness Day on February 9, 2006?
Well, we are and it’s going to be a fun-filled day chock full of
tips and advice that the new marketer can use to build an online
biz. Visit http://WebContentAwarenessDay.com for more info.)

So, the idea of event marketing seems rather titillating… but
you’re not so sure you can hack it. Before you put your skills
to the real-world test, run through this list to figure out
whether you qualify as someone who can make an online promotion
fly.

Essential Skills Needed Before Diving Headfirst into Online
Event Promotions

Skill 1. Killer copywriting ability. You have experience
writing web copy (and your copy provokes REACTIONS). Other
alternative: your staff or freelance copywriter is going to
manage the online event for you. Why do you need a copywriter?
Because if you can’t persuade people that this event will be the
hit of the century, then you may as well cancel the plan,
man…

Skill 2. Refined web design skills. Of course, you’ll
want your online event to generate profit. For that reason, the
person who designs your website should not only be graphically
advanced, but adept at setting up a shopping-cart type system
where goods can be purchased. (Hey, what’s a county fair without
funnel cake sales, right?) You’ll also need a subscriber box to
collect email addresses… maybe a forum or guestbook…
basically, a *real* designer will know how to add that fancy
stuff that will make your Big Day interactive and fun.

Skill 3: People skills. Do you refer to yourself as the
Hobbit, and live in a hole underground for most of the year? If
you dread human contact, then you’re going to be unpleasantly
surprised when the tidal wave of emails and phone calls come
flying in once your event “takes off.” If this idea has you
cowering in a corner gnawing your fingernails off, consider
hiring a professional people person or opting for more
low-profile activity on the web!

Skill 4: Integrated content assimilation. Internet
marketers are fast on their feet. The best ones know that just
ONE article can be leveraged for maximum content efficiency
across multiple marketing venues and “refreshed” for instant
reuse. The best marketers know how to take a few paragraphs and
a couple of links and with a few tweaks give that tired old copy
a new home and a new life on the web.

Skill 5: Networking Skills. This is the most fundamental
requirement of online event launch. If you don’t have a network
within your niche that full of people who are receptive to this
crazy scheme of yours, the event simply will not take off. Or
maybe, it’ll launch okay but you’ll make a little ripple when
you could have made a bowling-ball-in-a-lake kinda splash. If
your network members are close comrades, you can work out barter
arrangements or alternative payment options (example, a
percentage of the profits).

That covers it- the five essential must-haves for an online
event promoter. If you’ve got it, go for it. If not… well,
there’s always next year. Just keep honing those skills and
you’ll get where you need to be for sure. :)

More On Meeting Your Bandwidth Requirements For Supply Chain Management Applications

26 05 2009

As I pointed out in a previous article, Supply Chain Management (SCM) is a complex animal. The key to a successful SCM implementation is a clear understanding of the business objectives and business requirements of the company the SCM primarily supports. This often includes a number of legacy systems which need to be integrated into the solution. From this will come the technical objectives to be met and the technical requirements that frame the solution. Only then will the commmunication requirements for bandwidth capacity, reliability, resiliancy, latency, security, and expandability be meaningful.

Here’s just 2 such technical aspects…..

Frame Relay

Frame relay initially had several advantages over the alternative solutions for SCM and other multi site and multi company communications networks.

The first advantage was with circuit costs. For a multi site network, the traditional approach was a large number of point to point circuits. Each circuit required a router port, a CSU, and often a circuit monitoring module. With milage based pricing, each circuit represented a significant recurring cost on top of the initial hardware costs. Router sizing was often a factor of ports supported rather than performance capability.

Frame relay exchanged the point to point circuit costs with an access circuit, typically at less than 1/10th of the cost. With port speeds from DS0 to DS3, multiple sites could be connected with a single port at each site. A partial or full mesh, even with full redundancy, could be accomplished with very few router ports and CSU at each site. This represented significant capital savings.

Using fractional T1 and T3 on the access circuits, frame relay made expanding capacity between sites relatively painless. Port changes within the frame relay provider’s network was often a configuration change. Expanding the actual circuits was typically a configuration change on the CSU and DACS.

Adding new sites was often accomplished with physical changes at the new site only. The new PVC across the frame relay network and at the existing site(s) was a configuration change. Depending on the routers used and the routing protocol implemented, this might be accomplished without a maintenance window.

The PVC approach allowed for additional security. A given location could be directed to a specific port within the DMZ, limiting the exposure of one’s own network to other vendors within the SCM network. Firewalls at each end allowed each company to control its own security. The frame relay network was vulnerable to external monitoring at very few points, and the relationship of PVC traffic to specific customer required specific network design information.

Frame relay offered the ability to have a disaster recovery site support multiple locations. PVC between the disaster location and other locations could be defined in the configuration, allowing dynamic implementation of the disaster recovery network.

As a circuit protocol, frame relay functions independent of other protocols. This segmentation allowed IPX, IP, SNA, and other system communications protocols to be implemented over the same paths. If desired, each of these could have its own PVC and bandwidth, or they could all operate over a common path. Finally, the bandwidth and performance could be established specifically to site pairs on a PVC basis.

For a vendor that participated in multiple SCM networks, frame relay represented real cost savings. Instead of a new circuit for each network, a PVC could be established. Instead of 6 week circuit installation delays, service could be established in hours.

—-

So why the past tense? The advantages of frame relay are now achieved via the Internet. The timeframes for implementation have been reduced from hours to minutes. Encryption has advanced beyond the security offered by isolated paths. Advances in application based routing can achieve availablity assurances. Legacy protocols have been largely replaced by IP.

There are still times when frame relay is the best choice based on business requirements or technical constraints. But a robust bandwidth network (e.g. OC3 or OC12 bandwidth….perhaps with GigE connectivity) applying IP protocols will enable a seemless flow of information without risking security concerns.

Emerging Technologies

The most notable is Radio Frequency Identification, or RFID. RFID tags are essentially barcodes on steroids. Whereas barcodes only identify the product, RFID tags can tell what the product is, where it has been, when it expires, whatever information someone wishes to program it with. RFID technology is going to generate mountains of data about the location of pallets, cases, cartons, totes and individual products in the supply chain. It’s going to produce oceans of information about when and where merchandise is manufactured, picked, packed and shipped. It’s going to create rivers of numbers telling retailers about the expiration dates of their perishable itemsnumbers that will have to be stored, transmitted in real-time and shared with warehouse management, inventory management, financial and other enterprise systems. In other words, it is going to have a really big impact.

Another benefit of RFIDs is that, unlike barcodes, RFID tags can be read automatically by electronic readers. Imagine a truck carrying a container full of widgets entering a shipping terminal in China. If the container is equipped with an RFID tag, and the terminal has an RFID sensor network, that container’s whereabouts can be automatically sent to Widget Co. without the truck ever slowing down. It has the potential to add a substantial amount of visibility into the extended supply chain.

Right now the two biggest hurdles to widespread RFID adoption are the cost of building the infrastructure and the lack of agreed-upon industry standards. But regardless…RFID implementation will be bandwidth intensive to retrieve and disseminate the mountain of information such a tool will provide.

Summary

The answer to how to meet bandwidth requirements for SCM applications is as complex as ever. The addition of emerging technologies like RFID into the mix of legacy point-to-point approaches, the frame relay darling, and the simplification afforded by OCx backed IP protocols….means your IT staff will be pegging their stress meter trying to make a decision. To navigate the aspect involving researching and acquiring the right bandwidth solution….do yourself a favor. The Birth of a Professional Web Site: Part One The Web Design Learning Process

7 05 2009

The Internet has opened a whole New World of opportunity for all of us. With the vast amount of information available at your fingertips, it has never been easier to communicate your message to the world.

A web site will enable you to create your own home on the World Wide Web. Your home may be as simple or dynamic as you’d like and is only limited by your imagination.

Although designing a great web site is an important part of developing a successful online business, it is only one small part of an overall plan.

Although many new Internet entrepreneurs believe that all they need to do to make money online is to put up a web site, that couldn’t be further from the truth.

The truth is developing a successful Internet business takes a great deal of time, thought and effort. It takes a sincere commitment, a lot of patience, and a lot of personal drive.

There are a lot of lessons that must be learned, and a lot of failures that must be endured. However, if you’re truly passionate about your business and success, it will happen — you will succeed.

A major factor in determining your success is the amount of time you take to educate yourself. Please don’t take this point lightly, as it can literally mean the difference between your success and failure.

Sure, learning HTML is an important part of designing a successful web site; however, it is only one small part. You must first develop a strategic plan and design your web site accordingly.

Prior to designing your web site, here are some questions to assist you in developing your strategy:

• Who is your target audience?
• What is your most wanted response?
• What products and/or services will you offer?
• Will you sell affiliate products and/or services?
• What type of design will you use?
• Will you design your site or hire a professional?
• How will your site be navigated?
• How will your site be optimized?
• What type of graphics will your site use?
• Where will you obtain your graphics?
• What graphic formats will you use?
• What fonts will you use?
• How will you design your site for different screen sizes?
• How will you design your site for different web browsers?
• How will you optimize your pages for the Search Engines?
• How will you make your web pages load quickly?
• What type of content will your site offer?

Poisoned Arrows

10 04 2009

You’ve probably heard the talks about dressing your website for success. You should find all possible ways to attract visitors and more then that to offer a lot of additional information to make them pay another visit again and again.

It seems rather unusual for me, to dedicate 90% of your time and resources searching and gathering complementary info and to update the website very often. For selling a 20 dollars worth product you should spend the main part of energy to keep your site “burning”. It is like to accomplish your goal, first you fire the
arrow at the blank field, and then you paint the target around it.

I’m going to let you know that, in my opinion, the time of such heavy method has gone. You may forget all that garbage you have read about putting “content” on your web site. You may forget the large websites with many visitors swimming in pure confusion.

All you need is a minisite, a maximum two page site, having every line targeted to a single purpose: To Sell the Product.

It is a must for this minisite to act like a poisoned arrow: One Shoot, One Kill, No escape.

The minisite method perfectly fits the small business interests.

Why? Let’s see below some pro arguments:

  1. The minisite is up to 2 pages, very short and simple, no chance for any visitor to be confused or to lose the way.

  2. Every minisite is dealing with only one product. The visitors will get information strictly related to the product, only pure meat, nothing else.

  3. The only policy of minisite is: “Don’t come again, Let’s close the game now.”

  4. You will not spend time and energy searching for new info and doing never ending updates.

  5. You don’t need any expertise to present the product, excepting a few suitable testimonials. As time as you know very good your product, who’s better qualified?

  6. In the large majority of cases you can build the minisite on your own. No special design skills are required.

As you can see you will not spend your resources building and maintaining a minisite. On the contrary, you will target all your money, time and energy to a very profitable purpose: driving traffic to your minisite.

Every time I say: Product don’t Make Money, but Traffic. There is still a catch here when using minisite. Your way of presentation must be very persuasive, but only using true and real elements you can prove on the spot.

Remember everytime: One Shoot, One Kill. You don’t take prisoners, that a poisoned arrow means.

Internet Speed: Facts and Figures

26 03 2009

I’ve been fascinated over the years by the rapid advances in technology. None more than Internet speed. The Internet is defined: a computer network consisting of a worldwide network of computer networks that use the TCP/IP network protocols to facilitate data transmission and exchange .

Speed is defined: the act or state of moving swiftly . When you combine these two, you get Internet speed. High Speed Internet!

Over the last few years the Internet has seen major advancements in the ability of the average Internet user to achieve speeds that could of never been imagined in the days of dial up Internet. According to Nielsen//NetRatings, the global standard for Internet audience measurement and analysis, reports that in the United States there are 39 million, or 13 percent of Americans, connecting via broadband in the U.S., the highest number to date. That number is expected to grow to 61.5 million by 2008.

In Europe the numbers were even better, broadband households in Europe increased by nearly 65% last year, a rate twice as fast as the US. The highest growth was in France, until recently an Internet laggard.

With Broadband provider prices continuing to decrease and subscribership continuing to grow, you can bet that Internet Speed will continue to amaze.
